Molden Gold (2022)
The Golden Lining Series
At losses and lows throughout our lives, we are often asked to find the silver linings to every cloud we encounter. At times,
the silver sliver of hope is airy and out of grasp. But in gold, there is an element of strength proven to withstand pressure and purification as it is moulded through fire.
Us humans can try to daydream about the silver linings in our cloud and just get lost in a moment’s inertia in the hopes of being saved. Most of the time, getting through challenges requires the courage to admit that we’ll never be the same as we once were before - that our mould is broken and we are transforming, hopefully for the better. As we go through the flames of our despair, we learn to trust our lives and processes, surrendering to being molten and re-shaped - sturdier and shinier than ever.
We see a touch of grey in these paintings, which is often associated with loss, imbued with yellow to denote emotional strength and courage. The combination of colours represents the process of emotional transformation. While the gold here marks the process’s valuable end-product, the final goal of strength that we hope to achieve.
