Mara is a Demon creature originating from different cultures and traditions. The word ‘Mara’ can denote an emotion, a desire, hatred, bitter, greediness, and delusion. ‘Mara / Desire’ is Surya’s interpretation of an entity who neutrally appears when our desires cannot be controlled. The bold colours used in his illustration of the figure expresses a strong sense of bravery, as it mirrors our ability to conquer the darker sides of our personalities.
